Drop in lessons on Friday
Drop in lessons improv theatre
Every Friday except holidays 20:00-22:00h at Buurtcentrum De Leeuw.
What can you expect?
Improv lessons for all levels, experienced and first timers. We play fun games, you learn the principles of improv and you meet a group of fun and open minded people. Every Friday there are around 4 people for the first time, you will be welcomed by the others who also have been first-timers once. Improv is all about making a positive connection with others. You don’t need any theatre experience, nor to be fluent in English (most of us aren’t).
After the lesson we put back the tables, you can add yourself to our Drop in Whatsappgroup with a QR code. And you can pay the teacher with a tikkie, QR code or cash. We walk towards pub O’Leary’s at the Adelaarstraat 23 opposite the windmill to have drinks.
How to enter the building:
You can come in with the others between 19:50-20:00h. The entrance is this side entrance at the Troelstralaan. See the picture of the building. If you are late, you can whatsapp the administrator Marieke. She can tell you bhow to get in.
Parking is free near Gisbert Bromlaan and further (10 min walking)
What to bring?
Bring a bottle of water and wear comfortable clothes.
What to pay?
Pay what you think it was worth. Suggestion €10-€20, the average is €15. We use the money to rent the room and pay our professional teachers who dedicated their Friday evenings. You are welcome to pay less if you don’t have much income. We welcome everybody!
How to sign up?
Sign up by adding your name to the list http://bit.ly/improvutrecht and put an “x” in the column of the date. If it’s your first time, Marieke likes to have your contact details, for in case a lesson has to be canceled (which has happened only once). The group is often full, so if you know you are not comiing, please delete your X from the list.
What if I have injuries?
The room is accessable for wheelchairs with an elevator. Please share with the trainer or with group if people need to be carefull with anything. If you are ill and contagious we kindly ask you to stay home.
In these lessons we are not very physical, but please speak up if anything is uncomfortable for you. Your personal well being is most important. Your fellow improvisers will find a way how to play with you within your boundaries. For example, if the noise is bothering you, you can do the exercise in the hallway.
Can I just watch?
Yes and no. We always invite you to do the exercises and games in the first half. These are silly group games, or things in pairs, groups of 3. They are meant to get you in the playful mode of not worrying and realising that anyone can play. The second half of the lesson we play improv games, and by that time most first timers want to try the games. But if you don’t, it is still very funny to watch, laugh and learn from others.
When are there no lessons?
In the Christmas holidays, on national holidays and in the summer. We follow the school holidays. In the autumn holiday we do have a lesson. You can see it in the sign up sheet.
What else can I do?
Look at our website for the shows, courses and day workshops. In our drop in whatsappgroup we announce other theatre shows and workshops in English. And in a separate appgroup we announce the Dutch improv events in Utrecht.
